Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a CellarWise account, we collect your email address and display name. We use Firebase Authentication to securely manage your account.

Cellar Data

We store the wine and bottle information you add to your cellar, including wine names, producers, vintages, quantities, locations, and tasting notes.

Label Photos

When you use the scan feature, we temporarily process photos of wine labels to identify the wine. Photos are sent to Google Cloud Vision for text recognition and are not stored permanently.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage analytics to improve the app, including which features you use and how often. We do not track your browsing activity outside the app.

How We Use Your Information

  • Cellar management — Store and display your wine collection
  • Drinking window predictions — Analyze your wines using Google Vertex AI (Gemini) to estimate optimal drinking periods
  • Label scanning — Process wine label photos via Google Cloud Vision to auto-identify wines
  • App improvement — Understand usage patterns to make CellarWise better

Third-Party Services

CellarWise uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Authentication — Account management and sign-in
  • Google Cloud Firestore — Secure storage of your cellar data
  • Google Cloud Vision — Wine label text recognition
  • Google Vertex AI (Gemini) — Drinking window predictions

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your cellar data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, all associated data (cellar, bottles, preferences) is permanently removed from our systems.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Firebase security rules, and authenticated API access.

Children's Privacy

CellarWise is not intended for users under the age of 21. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
